Put In Time Out

Well, it's no big surprise. I blew it again yesterday.  I have been a little too obsessed with blogland a little too much for weeks now. Chores have gone undone. Errands have gone unrun. Phone calls have gone unmade. Meals have been from the freezer a few times too many.

Blue has certainly noticed, and I've had a few warning looks and comments. I don't know why I haven't been able to control myself any better. That's really not like me at all. My self control is normally pretty iron clad. I have been truly obsessed with blog reading. I sit down here meaning to only read a few posts, and before I know it, hours have gone by.

Blue has been patient, but his patience reached an end yesterday. I got spanked, and I'm also grounded from blogland for a week.

Honestly, I think the break will be healthy. I could use some time to reevaluate my priorities. Bonnie at My Bottom Smarts, sorry I don't have time to link to her, has a great post with advice to new bloggers. One of the things she said, was to make your blog fit your life. Not the other way around. Makes perfect sense, too bad I didn't take heed.

Take care, my good friends and "family." I'll miss you!

Since I started my blog I have been online sooooo much more than usual. My Pinterest surfing has even suffered. :)

I hope you have a good break from blogging and a happy week.

  3. Oh yes this seems to be a theme around blogland. It is really difficult to prioritize some days. When I am home I put off tomorrow what I should do today. I think everyone needs to figure out a system that works for them. When is the best time to sit down and enjoy blog reading etc.?
I sure hope things reset for you. We will be here when you return. Enjoy the extra hours to find pleasure in other ways. Books? Blue?

    1. I had lots of time to think about what might work best for me, Minelle. I think I figured out a workable schedule if I can just stick to it. I did find great ways to fill those hours I would have been blogging the past week. I do love to read and I got caught up a little on my library books. Thank you for your supportive words. I appreciate you :)

  4. Hi CG :)
Well, a big hug from me and hope the week is a nice break for you. These HoH men sometimes seem like they are a little "rigid" but they always have our best interests at heart.
    Take care, sweetie :)
    See you in a week.
PS - get that laundry done, woman...lol

    1. Hi Lillie :) I have to admit, Blue knew best. I gave him a pretty hard time for a few days, but he stood firm and it worked out for my benefit in the end. Thanks for the hug and kind words :)

The laundry was about the only thing I didn't get behind on, lol!

  5. I'm sorry CG but it makes good sense and a little time off and perspective can be a good thing. If it makes you feel any better, one long term blogger once told me that when women start Dd, they go online and get a virtual PhD in it, b/c we HAVE to. We read and communicate and find friends all to learn. It's great, and yet you've found the weakness in it.

I haven't ever been put on any restriction but whenever I've taken a week of for some reason, it has been good for me coming back and re-establishing what is the right amount of time/energy to put into it. This will be good...try to remember that when you feel a bit of withdrawl over the next couple days. I'll look forward to when you are back. Hang in there!

Heh...I think I have some laundry to do too...

    1. Hi Susie :) Yours is the voice of calm reason as always! I have a feeling that you're the one all your friends and family call on when there's any kind of crisis.

My week off did turn out to be a good thing after all. I am very interested to hear that you take time off sometimes. I think that's a very good idea. I should probably do the same. Most likely, it would prevent some problems for me.

I think I have a ways to go on that PhD,lol! Maybe I've earned my Associates though....

Thanks for your support, Susie. I really appreciate it!

I try to read on my phone, when I get home from work, stay up late, etc. It is hard to find the right balance and you can get pulled in to as you say "hours" of on line time. Take care and we'll look for a post when you can post again. Hugs and all the best to you and Blue! Okay, one more Hug. Bye.

  17. I think sometimes the fact that we are able to tell everything about our life here as compared to many of us in our off line lives that we feel more....what's the word? Okay for me I can be myself. I find suggestions and ideas and things that I would never find or even talk about with my family and 99% of my friends. I like being on here because there are no secrets. Coming to blog land is like a night out with the girls. (And guys) Does that make any sense? I'm glad you found time to write today - look forward to your next one.

  18. I wasn't expecting this. Guess I should have. A week. Hmmm... Tapping foot... Contemplating putting Blue over Abraham Lincoln's knees at the monument...we could line up and take turns. Oh, no, that's right, I forgot, you like Blue, love him, respect him, so we'd just turn you into Annie Oakley picking us off in his defense.

You served freezer food, how many times in a week (?), to a man who has a physical job, and lived to blog about it. Amazing. Blue must really love you! Just kiddin'. But, insult a guy's stomach, leave too much undone, the old bear probably will rumble - and did. Sorry, sweetie.

My guy made a special dinner for me tonight, brought me a dozen red roses yesterday, and took me and the kids to dinner Friday night. This weekend was our chance to celebrate my birthday this month. Oh, funny story...my teen son wanted to write a birthday poem for me, but became so involved in his word choice and rhymes, conveying his thoughts, that he wished me a happy mother's day in the poem, twice! It said nothing about a birthday! It was very good and sweet though.

Hope you do well this week. I'll be thinking of you.

    1. Hi there Irishey! A pleasure to have you here as always :) Hmmmmmm, Blue over Lincoln's knee. What an image! I don't know about that, but I think I could do Annie Oakley pretty well if it came down to it, lol!

I know, I know...if I had only been smart enough to keep Blue well fed, I probably could have got away with everything else! Oh well, a lesson learned.

Happy belated birthday! Your guy cooked for you! Wow, I am impressed. And roses too! He sounds like a keeper :)
Awww, your son wrote you a poem! That was probably your favorite gift. How very special. So, he mixed up the days...it's the thought that counts! I love it.

I really do appreciate you taking the time to offer your support and give me a laugh as you always do, Irishey!
I hope you had a wonderful week yourself. :)

  19. I'm sorry you got put on hold! We'll definitely miss you while you're gone, but I hope it helps you recenter. Darn men! ;) Most importantly, I hope YOU are happier after the week. I've noticed that when I get too invested in the online community, I get frustrated with it, myself, and and Mr Bossy. I hope, instead of a punishment, you get to enjoy quality time with Blue and come back with lots of fun stories to tell us :)

Enjoy your week! We'll miss you!

  20. Oh dear! I can so relate. And here I am thinking in my head about writing a post to all of the bloggers who follow my blog and leave me nice comments, and I haven't had time to reciprocate. Henry had to do the same with me, and now I have limited time. Some days I have more than others, but I need to take care of my R/L computer list as well.
But Saturday morning I had the rare opportunity to catch up a bit. Since I'd never read your blog, I read from the beginning. I enjoyed it so much, and had planned to leave you a comment on the last post when H called me away from fun! Bleck!
But I am a big advocate of walking away from the internet and just living in Dd. Only you can make your own journey, and being away from what others do, and getting their feedback - really changes your perspective. (I see that Susie said the same, lol- PHD!) No doubt you will have wonderful things to share when you return.
I look forward to reading more from you then.
Oh, and I added you to my blogroll.
And for what it's worth, although H curbs my time some of the time (I'm much better at doing it myself now) he also knows when I need to connect here and has handed me my laptop and suggested that I do just that. It's all about balance like they say. :-)

    1. Hello Elysia, and welcome! I have to say it's kind of a thrill for me to have you here commenting on my blog. It doesn't really seem that long ago, I was a regular lurker on your blog. It was/is one of my favorites. I learned a lot from you. I have a lot of respect for you and Henry. I hope to be reading your posts for years to come.

I'm so glad you found time to read all my posts. I'm especially pleased that you enjoyed them and I certainly appreciate you adding me to your blogroll!

It is so easy to get lost here in blogland, isn't it. I'm sorry you had the same problem too. I'm beginning to see it's a pretty common issue. Maybe limited time is best anyway. I am going to be walking away for a day or two now and then. I think that's great advice.

Thankfully, Blue does understand how much I get out of blogland, so it's unlikely he would ever cut me off for TOO long. I'll just have to keep my balance.

Thanks again, Elysia. I appreciate your comments! :)

    2. How very sweet that you learned so much from my blog. I'm so happy to know! Years to come? It may just happen. H says Dd is with us to stay! :-)
I have been banned from the internet, and even had my laptop put safely away. But not recently. I've since figured out how to balance the two, and you will too.
Now I can stay away on my own, esp when it's taking over too much of my time.
I'm glad Blue is of the same mind as Henry. We learn a lot from each other, and really need the support.
Your welcome - my pleasure! :-)
